From Paul St. Pierre:

Interesting how relevant this little bit below has been to help a few lately: thought I’d offer to you Mr. President to share with PFDI members that may inquire.

Frustrated with the costs of mortuary coolers, we created our own refrigeration a year ago.

We attached a device called a “cool bot” to an air conditioner unit. Very easy to do. We discovered many florists, hunters, and others in need of portable refrigeration using it by simply going to YouTube and typing “Cool Bot”. There are many videos on how to install and other uses.

Basically, a cool bot will trick a standard A/C unit to a cooler temperature.

I’ve attached an example of the A/C unit, and the cool bot. I suggest the EXACT A/C unit because I know it fits the compatibility need (yes, we used an A/C unit we had in storage at first, and it was NOT compatible).

I’ve also attached a video (below link) that was created before completing our first room, but after installation of the unit itself.  We went an extra step and put 4×8 sheets of Styrofoam on our existing walls, then put a metal sheeting over it. This can help us keep it insulated and allow the cool bot to get to the 36-39 degree range.

We also have a room without the insulation in a former embalming room, and it gets down to about 52-53 degrees.

 Hope this helps!
